LOL! I shun my mother for the same reasons. And I'm pretty sure she shuns herself some days when she sees how much I have spent over the years on clothes when I could have been very happily wearing her gorgeous hand-me-downs.

... if when i was a baby i knew that my mom's clothes would be in fashion today, i would definitely lock them in my closet so she couldn't give or threw it away!! but at least she keep some of them so, i guess i'm still a lucky one ;)

i am right there with you, so many fantastic items from my mums wardrobe have gone to charity, sob sob. so many times when we go shopping i will point something out and she has to comment "i had something just like that, you would have loved it"

I remember my mom saying that all fashion is turning around every 2o years. I guess its time because it has been almost 22 years ago(I'm counting, its also my birthyear)
